What time should I be at the startline?
For any event, you should be at the start at least 15 minutes before the event start. You will receive a race briefing prior to entering the water and we will also support acclimatisation where available.
How do you marshal/ensure safety at your swim events?
There will be support boats and kayaks with qualified life-saving personnel on hand. There will be a race briefing prior to the start, but if you have problems in the water, it is standard procedure to lie on your back and raise your hand in the air, you will then be taken out of the water as soon as possible.
What do I do if I can't complete the swim?
If you are unable to complete the swim, lie on your back and raise your hand in the air and this will signal the water safety team to take you back to dry land. Please return your chip to water safety or a team leader so we can account for you leaving the water.
If you come out of the water without assistance and don't want to carry on, please also make sure you report to a team leader/volunteer with your race number and timing chip.
We have had many people over the years that have not reported to us on leaving the water and this has triggered a full emergency service response to locate them when they are perfectly safe on dry land. Please don’t be this person.
