"This was my longest swim of any distance to date (2.4 mile), let alone in the sea so I walked down to North Beach with a tummy full of butterflies. After a quick dip in the sea to acclimatise, I entered the holding pen along with a couple of Tri club friends. The weather gods were kind to us, as were the jellyfish, which I'd never experienced before. Seeing them gracefully swimming along several meters below actually fascinated me, having got over the original fright. I managed a steady pace. The North Beach rock was both a great sight as well as a welcome sight, and a last big push got me home happy with my time"
